Membership Renewals

Renewal letters are now being sent out by Sue Badman, Deputy Chairman, Membership together with a letter from the Prime Minister thanking members for their hard work and support.  You will receive your letter in the month before your membership expires.  Please renew promptly to ensure your membership is continuous.  There are 360 registered association members as at January 2017.

Thank you to all those who have already renewed your membership for 2017.  You will receive a 2017 membership card as soon as receipt of your payment is confirmed.  Please consider payment by standing order when you renew as it helps to reduce our administrative costs.

CCHQ has asked us to ensure members are aware of the criteria for qualifying members.  A qualifying member is someone who is a current member of an Association or Branch and has been a member for three months or more prior to the date of the ballot.    All members of an Association or branch have the right to attend the AGM, but if they are not qualifying members, then they are not able to vote or nominate, propose or second any person or motion at the meeting.  There is a three month grace period after the expiry date and provided members renew within that period their continuous membership is preserved and their voting rights are retained. If members do not renew within the three month period, they will be required to rejoin the Party and be unable to vote for the first three months as with any new membership.

The Association is also writing to former members who did not renew in 2016 asking them to rejoin.   We have new 2017 Dulwich & West Norwood membership leaflets and if you would like copies to pass on or would like us to forward details to a friend or contact, please email Heather on

Multi Constituency Association (MCA)

On 26th January I sent a letter to Ian Sanderson, the Head of the Voluntary Party, on behalf of the five Lambeth & Southwark associations to seek support and clarification for a transitional MCA to operate from May 2017 to June 2018.  The nub of the proposals is to

  • Create an Executive Committee with two members from each association
  • Elect a chairman
  • Open a bank account
  • Recruit a Campaign Manager
  • Use Streatham Conservative Association (SCA) office premises at 3, Gleneldon Road, SW16 2AX as a base
  • Establish the costs of employing the Campaign Manager and of campaigning in the run up to the 2018 Borough elections
  • Decide on a formula for meeting these costs between the five associations.

Annual General Meeting

The AGM will be held on Tuesday 28th March at 7.30 for 8 pm in St Barnabas Parish Hall.  A main topic for discussion will be the proposal for a transitional MCA.  As ever officers will be elected but this year members are urged to stand as several officers are approaching the end of their three year term of office.  Let me repeat that the office of treasurer is a particular concern as I have been acting in this role for the past year and, whist is allowable it is not desirable.

Party Conference

All members with an email address will have been invited to book their place for this year's Party Conference. You are reminded that at the moment the cost for a photographic security pass for conference is just £55 (£30 for Students) until Tuesday 4th April.  To book your place before prices go up at midnight on Tuesday 4th April click here.

There is also the Spring Forum in Cardiff on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th March 2017.  Book at
