Mayor Boris is backing West Norwood and that’s good for our community and shows that Boris doesn’t fall for Labour’s focus on Brixton. Boris is giving us £310,000 to support a range of measures designed to help regenerate businesses on Norwood Road. This will build on the enthusiasm of local traders and friends groups and make the most of Norwood’s independent and historic assets.
The actions include improvements to shop fronts, a visual merchandising programme to improve the look and feel of the town centre, and support for a West Norwood Business Club. Boris is also supporting the West Norwood Feast November Lights, winter weekenders, and a Feast Cookbook, a slow food festival, and winter lights.
Many of us travel to do our shopping in Streatham and the good news there is that Boris is giving Lambeth Council £750,000 to improve Streatham High Road to make it more pedestrian friendly. In all Lambeth is getting £685,000 of funding to help bring the buzz back into our high streets.
