Increasing public spending - new town hall rubber-stamped

Lambeth Council has approved plans to construct a new Town Hall in the centre of Brixton. The project is set to cost £50 million. This comes after it was revealed that the council plans to spend £139,000 on refurbishing Olive Morris House, despite plans to demolish the building.

Conservative activist, Michael Johnson said, "Lambeth Council is happy to spend millions on new building for themselves while increasing council tax on local residents and cutting back on services. One rule for them, another rule for the rest of us."
