New Candidates for Thurlow Park

Jack Kelly and Kelly ben Maimon have successfully passed through the screening for Lambeth Ward. We very much hope they will become our candidates in Thurlow Park Ward.

AGM 2017 confirmed for March

The AGM will be held on Tuesday 28th March at 7.30 for 8 pm in St Barnabas Parish Hall.  As ever officers will be elected but this year members are urged to stand as several officers are approaching the end of their three year term of office.  It would be very helpful if we could have a new treas

Increasing public spending - new town hall rubber-stamped

Lambeth Council has approved plans to construct a new Town Hall in the centre of Brixton. The project is set to cost £50 million. This comes after it was revealed that the council plans to spend £139,000 on refurbishing Olive Morris House, despite plans to demolish the building.

Hands in the Till

Labour councillors have voted to change the Lambeth Council constitution to enable discretionary payments to be made to cabinet members. The measure was voted through by the huge Labour majority, with 4 councillors voting against and 1 abstention.

New Free School in Gipsy Hill

The Government has approved a new free school in Gipsy Hill. The new secondary school is due to open in September 2017, and will make 1,600 secondary school places available. It is to be operated by the Gipsy Hill federation, which already runs five primary schools in Lambeth. 

Lambeth Council Cancels Bonfire Night

After mismanaging the sale of tickets to last year's Brockwell Park firework display, which left more than 20,000 tickets unsold, Lambeth Council has given up. The Council has cancelled this year's display in Brockwell Park, saying that it can no longer afford the event. 

'Quietways' Delayed

Labour councillors in Thurlow Park have been forced back to the drawing board on road improvements intended to make Lambeth’s cyclists safer. The Council brought forward a proposal to close Rosendale Road without any attempt to consult local businesses and residents.

Rosendale Road Surgery Saved

Following a community-led campaign supported and promoted by Dulwich & West Norwood Conservatives it has been announced that the GP Surgery on Rosendale Road will be saved.
