We were delighted to host an online Q&A with Brandon Lewis MP last night.
Association members dialled into to Zoom to hear from Brandon, who joined us from Hillsborough Castle, in County Down, Northern Ireland.
Brandon told about the government's determination to rebuild the economy after Coronavirus and continue its levelling-up agenda. Focusing on is own role of Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Brandon gave us an update on how the executive in Stormont was working together to tackle Coronavirus and the promising start to the "New Decade, New Approach" agreement. He talked about the importance of the Northern Ireland Protocol within the ongoing trade deal discussions with the European Union, and the steadfast commitment of the government to maintain its position on Northern Ireland.
Brandon looked ahead to the Mayoral and GLA elections next year and how important it will be for us all to get out on the doorstep in support of our candidate Hannah Ginnett once campaigning reboots.
Questions covered the agricultural sector in Northern Ireland, trade and borders, and the UK-wide response to handling Coronavirus.
It was a great session with lots of interesting insights from Brandon, who was on excellent form!
Our sincerest thanks go to Brandon, his team and the team at CCHQ for arranging a brilliant session.
