Local Politics

We have the largest and most active political organisation in the constituency, concentrating our efforts on getting Kemi Adegoke to replace Tessa Jowell as the Member of Parliament.

The constituency is made up of 8 wards at the local council level.

Coldharbour (Lambeth - 3 Labour Councillors)
College (Southwark - 3 Conservative Councillors)
East Dulwich (Southwark - 3 Liberal Democrat Councillors)
Gipsy Hill (Lambeth - 3 Conservative Councillors)
Herne Hill (Lambeth - 2 Labour Councillors, 1 Green)
Knights Hill (Lambeth - 3 Labour Councillors)
Thurlow Park (Lambeth - 3 Conservative Councillors)
Village (Southwark - 3 Conservative Councillors )

Southwark Council has no party in overall control. However, since 2006 it has been controlled by partnership arrangement between the Conservative and Liberal Democrat groups. Lambeth Council is controlled by Labour.

The Conservatives dominate local politics in the constituency having 12 of the 24 councillors. with 8 Labour, 3 Liberal Democrats and 1 Green Party member making up the numbers.
We have an excellent team of local councillors who actively represent the needs of the local community. Surgeries are held across the constituency and we gather the views of local residents by regularly distributing surveys.

More information about our councillors can be found here

We have frequent social and political events, often at ward level and dedicated campaign and action teams in each area.
