Leader of the Conservative Councillors Lewis Robinson is calling for more gritting boxes to be installed around Dulwich.

“Its become quite clear after the recent snowfall before Xmas that the Council’s gritting services have struggled to keep all the main roads open, particularly in areas of Lordship Lane and Crystal Palace – this has got to improve.  But this means many residents have now woken up to extremely icy and untreated footpaths which are dangerous for the elderly and young children, and in the current freezing conditions this could remain for several days.

I have been approached by several members of the public who have said if there were more gritting boxes around Dulwich locally they could then put some grit down on the footpaths.  I totally agree, and will be submitting a bid for funding for new grit boxes to be installed in my ward under the Cleaner Greener Safer scheme with the support of local residents.  The Council has to focus on keeping priority routes clear during the snow, but it can help residents in remoter areas of the borough by providing more grit boxes.”
